AI for Good competition launched

Neurala is an established artificial intelligence company. To mark the launch of its new platform, called the Brain Builder beta program, the company is calling for new advances with the development of artificial intelligence applications. These innovations will be channeled through a competition, with the objective being improving society at its heart. This includes applying artificial intelligence to humanitarian, environmental or animal causes.

Dubbed “AI for Good”, interested parties can submit applications anytime between now and September 16, 2018.

As incentive, software and platform developers who participate in the “AI for Good” contest will have the opportunity to win a $1,000 first-place cash first prize. The runner-up will be awarded an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2, while the third-spot will have the opportunity to win a DJI phantom 3.

For the application, each submission must feature a detailed outline of the approach that will be taken to achieve the ‘good cause’ objective. The application can include technological frameworks, development pathways and test datasets. The proposal must also detail the functions and types of technologies that will be utilized. Finally, each applicant must explain how success will be measured.

Commenting on this, Max Versace, Neurala co-founder and CEO, said: “Like any technology, AI is a tool whose applications reflect the intentions of its creator. It is up to us to show the path and prove that doomsday scenario prophets like Elon Musk are wrong.”

He adds: “AI is creating changes in our lives that were at one time unimaginable. But we believe these changes have the power to benefit humanity, and we want to give the talented developers who will be able to make that happen a leg up.”

As a bonus, each “AI for Good” applicant will receive accelerated and free access to Neurala’s new Brain Builder tool. This will allow applicant to start tagging data-sets for their development.
