Review: Madonna delivers angelic ‘Joan of Arc’ performance on ‘Ellen’

It is a track on her latest studio album, the eclectic Rebel Heart, and arguably the greatest song in the entire collection. The Queen of Pop co-wrote the song “Joan of Arc” herself.

Madonna showcased tremendous control over her voice, and allows the lyrics to speak for themselves. Her delivery is emotional, vulnerable yet delicate.

“I can’t be a superhero right now, Even hearts made out of steel can break down, I’m not Joan of Arc, not yet, I’m only human,” Madonna sings.

The Verdict

Madonna is an artist that gets better with age. She possesses the voice of an angel. “Joan of Arc” is a prime gem on Rebel Heart, and worthy the price of the CD alone. This song deserves to be released as a future radio single on the airwaves. It earns an A rating.
