Most impressive about this country classic tune is that it was based on her own childhood, growing up in the mountains in Tennessee. Parton’s life was made into the made-for-TV movie, Coat of Many Colors, and 12.8 million viewers tuned in to see it on NBC. It starred Ricky Schroder, Jennifer Nettles and Alyvia Alyn Lind, the latter of which played young Dolly.
The Verdict
Overall, Dolly Parton was sensational on “Coat of Many Colors” on NBC’s The Voice. She proved to be a timeless vocalist and entertainer. All of the coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell) rewarded the country queen with a standing ovation, and rightfully so. Her version of “Coat of Many Colors” garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
