Last month, he performed at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow on Long Island, which he dubbed as a “fun” concert. “They have two memorials there, and I had a chance to go and visit them. One is for the veterans of all wars, and one of them pays tribute to the September 11 victims that were from that area, and it was very moving,” he said.
Regarding his new children’s book, Proud To Be An American, Greenwood said, “We are excited about this. After its release on Memorial Day, it is No. 1 in two or three categories in Amazon. We were on national television several times, and we are almost into our fourth printing already.”
Greenwood complimented the book’s illustrations, by Amanda Sekulow, and praised them for their vividness; moreover, this book offers a re-recorded version of his signature song, the patriotic staple, “God Bless The U.S.A.” “We purposely did that. It is a little softer and in a lower key, so when parents and grandparents download it for their kids, they can play it on their devise as they are reading the book to them,” he said.

Greenwood had the pleasure to collaborate with Long Island country singer Lisa Matassa. “Lisa is a very talented singer from New York, and she came to Nashville and we recorded an album with her, and the song I sang with her was one that I actually sang with Barbara Mandrell, so it was nice to relive it with somebody who is a really good singer, and there was a live performance downtown in Nashville,” he said.
Each day, the veteran music star is motivated by his two sons, ages 17 and 20 respectively, and he noted that they are both excelling in their high school and collegiate studies. His wife, Kim, is still actively involved with the Miss U.S.A. pageants, who directs three states: Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.
Aside from music, Greenwood is an avid supporter of “Helping a Hero,” where he raises funds for wounded warriors. “I am the national ambassador and we give homes to soldiers who are seriously wounded,” he said.
He shared his excitement for his performance tomorrow on the Fox & Friends morning show, especially since he will bring four wounded warriors from Houston all the way to New York City to be with him for this special occasion.
Greenwood concluded by defining the word success. “Success means that I’ve done a good job. I started performing when I was 10 years old, and I have loved performing for people and making them happy, and having a positive message,” he said.
