Aine O'Brocken

I am a somewhat obnoxious little, old lady nearing 70 years of age, and a retired 7th-grade teacher. I live on a small piece of land near Amboy, Washington. My small piece of land--although I would more say I belong to the land than the land to me--is named "Brocken," after the highest peak in the Hartz Mountains in Germany. Thus my name: Aine of Brocken (O'Brocken). Sharing this land with me are 13 pugs--many of whom are rescues, too old or disabled or too special in their needs for anyone else to want them. I also have one Boston Terrorist--Holly Cloth Ears, so named because children in the UK have a habit of using the term "cloth ears" in a rather derogatory fashion to describe someone who is hard of hearing.

In the picture with me is Augie--smiling, as you can see, despite the fact that he is both deaf and blind.
