Jane Friedman

Citizen based in Chicago, IL, United States. Joined on May 5, 2012

I was a news devotee in elementary school, perhaps, in part, because 3 daily newspapers were delivered at home. At school I was proudest of my athletic feats and my writing, although my teachers did not find my writings as stupendous as I did. Later, I subscribed to the Columbia Journalism Review, which I poured over even though I was not writing or reporting. in grad school my professors chose me to write a paper that was later published, not because I'd worked on the study but because they seemed to think I could put sentences together. After earning a M.S. in cardiac rehab and exercise physiology I approached the venerated weekly Lerner Newspapers, and reported for them in the 80s and 90s. There, I also wrote a weekly nature column for city dwellers. I wrote book reviews for the national Easter Seals trade publication, articles for its national newsletter and health care manuals for ES affiliates. Wrote and edited numerous publications in the Communications & P.R. department at Rush Medical Center. Most recently I've written & edited newsletters, reports, applications, blurbs and articles for civic organizations.
