My name is Anthony M. Martinez. I am an independent journalist based in Albuquerque, N.M. I grew up in northern New Mexico, near the town of Taos which is famous for its many art galleries, multi-cultural community, abundance of natural beauty and outdoor activities including wild river rafting, fishing and skiing. My family's ancestry is Spanish-American and I am the founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of a website called HispanoNewMexico.com which covers the Hispano (Spanish-American) community, history, and culture of New Mexico. I have also been a newspaper reporter and have written for magazines. I have won awards for my writing and reporting. My goal is to eventually make a documentary about the Hispano people of New Mexico. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, camping and skiing in the mountains of northern New Mexico and I also enjoy rock music--from punk to classic to alternative--and occasionally like old country and Spanish music of New Mexico. My favorite authors are Hunter S. Thompson, William S. Burroughs and other beat writers. I am also a history and political science buff. I'm excited to be writing for Digital Journal and welcome any feedback on my stories.
