About JD
I have been secondary certified in English and Social Studies since 1991, and the highlight of my career has been teaching Developmental English/Writing for over ten years. Developmental English is a pre-College Composition course for those who don't do well on entrance exams. There's a heavy emphasis on grammar.--together with writing and copyrighting a 350-page textbook for the course. Reading and Math are the other two developmental courses in Texas.
Also, I've written and copyrighted a textbook for Developmental English. Now I'm illustrating it through flickr--a photo-sharing branch of yahoo. Since 2003, I've had an academic website through McGraw-Hill Pageout, called Northeast Texas Virtual Library.
Besides academic writing, I write citizen journalism/user-generated content for a variety of sites, beginning at Associated Content-- now a branch of yahoo. My most successful article with over 6000 views was "Town Celebrates Martin Luther King: Tyler, Texas holds 23rd celebration for civil rights leader," at Oh My News of South Korea. I recommend articles for StumbleUpon at http://bohemiotx.stumbleupon.com where I'm nearing 180 reviews. I've written for both sites in Tyler: roughly 25 for the ABC affiliate, KLTV in your community and twelve articles for The Daily You. Taking my notebook wherever I go has become my trademark--even church.
