Discovered as a Child Prodigy at age 6, he was stricken with polio and paralyzed for two years. When he returned to school he was offered a three-grade skip from 4th Grade to seventh grade, when his reading comprehension scores were discovered to be at Graduate school level, and his IQ was off the charts. Two years abed with nothing but books seemed to have been a boon to his academic life.
He was a recipient of an Art Institute scholarship at age 11.
Later, in undergraduate school, he won a Ford Foundation Fellowship in Anthropology and a merit scholarship in Painting and was appointed a Graduate Research Assistant position by his dean.
He holds a triple bachelor's degree: Anthropology, Architectural Design, Advertising. MA's in Cultural Anthro, Painting and more.
After being tenured he taught; architecture, advertising, painting and drawing, entrepreneuring and Creative Profit Making. He produced a star-studded Music festival, had a radio talk show in Chicago, and cable TV show.
As a college student he acquired a bevy of scholarships, one, the 1st in 25 years at his institution, in figure drawing and painting.
Pete began his career as an Architectural Designer, designing churches, hospitals and schools with his uncle’s architectural firm in Oak Park and Chicago Illinois. After initial successes, he became restless and turned to advertising; first as an illustrator then as Creative Director, then CEO of Group VII Ltd. including a division which specialized in Political Consulting in Illinois. When offered a tenured teaching position, his childhood dream, he accepted and began his 3rd career as a professor. After a successful run as tenured professor/chair/coordinator of Advertising, teaching Architectural Design, he took an early Emeritus status to paint, design, and write.
He was Campaign Chair for Democratic Party in a City in Illinois, winning elections against an incumbent Republican Party, reversing their 7-1 majorities, and adding Democratic Mayor. Became chair of Economic Development and Chief Consultant for the next 8 years.
