About
I have been a freelancer, publicist and musician in Edmonton since 2007, after my last job as an editor-in-chief for a city magazine run by Captive Media ceased publishing. Previously, I was managing editor for such city newsweeklies as See magazine and Vue Weekly, until I landed a job as managing editor at Vogel Publishing for Satellite Orbit and Satellite Direct, which covered technology and entertainment for owners of C-band and digital satellite dishes.
Following that was a stint as a city editor for edmontonplus.ca, a city-oriented entertainment online vehicle created by Bell ActiMedia, back when Bell Canada, The Globe and Mail and CTV merged in 2000. After the dot.com bubble burst, I freelanced for business and entertainment magazines and found a steady contributing post creating advertorial for The Edmonton Journal's special features section. In 2004, I was lured back to Vogel and two years later (when it morphed into Captive) was given the editor-in-chief position at Edmonton Life, as the company was looking to expand its roster of publications. Although I was let go, I was kept on as a steady editorial contributor to the company's smaller publications.
I currently hold a part-time copy editor job at Avenue Magazine Edmonton, which allows me to work from home. I've also contributed to Venture Magazine, Edmonton New Homes & Condo Living, Windspeaker, and several smaller trade publications. I've also contributed online editorial to Vinok Worldance, Calgary Real Estate and also write for ypnexthomes.
