This week’s releases include a menace in the woods; a few classic thrillers; the debut season of a sci-fi series; a real-life courtroom comedy; the reimagining of an Edgar Allen Poe tale; an ‘80s music odyssey; and a prequel worthy of its predecessor.

Directed by James McTeigue, "The Raven" is a tale of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe in which grisly murders, inspired by the troubled writer, are taking place in a dreary Baltimore.

Derived from the legendary poem of the same title, director James McTeigue's film version of 'The Raven,' does not actually centre on Poe's literary tale. John Cusack stars as the epic 19th century writer instead, who is the movie's main figure.
