After waiting for the search for survivors to end, then being forced to wait 2 more weeks during bad weather, the company hired to empty the fuel tanks of the Costa Concordia, has emptied two tanks in just two days.

The Dutch company poised to begin pumping out the 2,300 tonnes of heavy fuel and 200 tonnes of diesel oil from the Costa Concordia, Smit Salvage, is still being prevented from doing so due to turbulent waters.

The grounded Costa Concordia will likely sit near the island of Giglio for the next 7 to 10 months, according to BBC News.
