Macy's is shuttering 28 Macy’s locations and one Bloomingdale’s location in the coming months. Closures affect locations in several states, including Florida, California, and Georgia, based on lists compiled from various media reports.
On Thursday, Sears Holdings, which owns Sears and Kmart, announced that it has identified 100 non-profitable stores and that it would be closing 72 of these locations “in the near future.”
Last year was a disaster for the retail industry, with record-setting bankruptcies and store closings involving 8,000 stores across multiple national chains. And 2018 isn't looking any better.

J.C. Penny will be closing 130 to 140 stores over the next few months in an effort to improve its profitability while working to improve online sales figures.
New York -
Barnes & Noble will eliminate the number of stores it operates over the next decade. It plans to cut about 30 percent to between 450 and 500 stores by the year 2022, which its head says is still "a good business model."
