Wildfires near Sequoia, Yosemite National Parks continue to grow

El Portal - A raging wildfire just outside of Yosemite National Park is evading the efforts of thousands of firefighters as it burns through dry brush and rugged terrain, growing daily and heading toward populated areas.

Rim Fire cause determined with 237,341 acres burned

Groveland - The U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement & Investigations has determined what caused the blaze that has so far burned 237, 341 acres in California.

Sixth largest fire in California history, 30% contained

Sonora - The Rim Fire is now reported at 192, 466 acres. 301 square miles of incredible devastation in a pristine wilderness area. 11 residences, 97 outbuildings, and 3 commercial buildings have been burned, but there is good news too.

Groveland - The Rim Fire continues to grow in size, but containment is also increased significantly today. Unofficially, the Rim Fire is now the 10th largest fire in the State of California since 1932.

Yosemite National Park - The Yosemite valley sits in the Stanislaus National Forest and is near the newly named Motor Fire. Yosemite National Park is not threatened at this time.
