After an erratic season Judd Trump has finally come good by clinching the Players Championship and with it his seventh snooker ranking tournament win. In the final Trump won a hard-fought battle with Marco Fu.

England’s former world snooker champion Shaun Murphy won the second Gibraltar Open, beating Judd trump in the short-sprint final, by 4 frames to 2. With the tournament afforded ranking points, this was Murphy’s seventh major win.

Anthony McGill, from Scotland, won snooker’s like-it-or-loathe it shoot-out tournament by beating Xiao Guodong’s in the one frame final. Controversially the tournament carried ranking points for the first time.

Former world champion Stuart Bingham won the Welsh Open snooker championship by beating Judd Trump in a nail-biting final, 9 frames to 8. This was Bingham’s first major victory for several years.

English snooker player Barry Hawkins continued his good run of form by lifting the World Grand Prix snooker title. Hawkins defeated Welsh player Ryan Day by 10 frames to 7 in the final.

England’s Anthony Hamilton was the surprise winner of the German Masters snooker tournament, coming from behind to beat the other surprise finalist, Ali Carter, by 9 frames to 6.

Ronnie O’Sullivan has broken another snooker record in winning the Masters title for the seventh time. This win took him above the record he shared with Stephen Hendry. In the final O’Sullivan beat Joe Perry 10-7.

Hong Kong’s Marco Fu won the final snooker tournament of the year in surprising fashion by coming from 1-4 behind to defeat John Higgins 9-4 in Glasgow.
