Aerial view of gray whales off the California coast (Video)

In what is definitely an example of drones being put to a good use, the above video shows six gray whales, swimming along off the California coast, close to Highway 1. It was captured with a GoPro Hero 3 camera flying on a DJI Phantom 2 drone.

Monterey - In what is probably the first time such an event has been witnessed and recorded, humpback whales appeared to try to intervene when a pod of killer whales attacked a baby gray whale.

Gray whales survived global warming, cooling by changing diets

Scientists now believe California gray whales survived global warming and cooling cycles over millions of years, because they are not picky eaters, or stubborn migrators. Flexibility may allow the species to win a new round of climate changes, they say.
