A Brazilian court has ordered 17 employees at Chevron and Transocean, both American companies, to surrender their passports and remain in Brazil pending criminal charges in connection with an offshore oil spill that occurred last November.
Prosecutors in Brazil have said they will charge 17 executives from the US oil company Chevron and the drilling contractor Transocean following a new oil leak on the seabed off Brazil.

Chevron Oil has confirmed it is working to contain an explosion on a natural gas drilling rig approximately six miles off the Nigerian coast, with two contractors on the rig unaccounted for.
