Last March Cincinnati police Officer Aaron Layton made a disgusting discovery as he searched Westside Health Care Center room by room for a suspect. The nursing home was in such disarray that Layton returned 16 days later armed with a search warrant.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has launched a $54-million U.S. television advertising campaign aimed at shocking smokers into quitting.


Autism may be more common than previously thought, burdening as many as one in 88 children, a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control says.

"The most common way women present with heart disease is dead, dead on arrival," Dr. Kathy Magliato, cardiothoracic surgeon at Saint John's Health Center in Los Angeles, told ABC News.

The rate of disease outbreaks caused by raw milk was 150 times greater than outbreaks linked to pasteurized milk during a 13-year period, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.


The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported the lowest influenza infection rate in 30 years of tracking flu activity, as well as the slowest recorded start to the flu season.
