The Philippines, Indonesia and the Pacific island of Tonga have been hit by forces of Mother Nature in the last couple of days, causing death and injury to those in coastal areas as well as in danger zones, in the case of the eruption in Indonesia.
Mexico's Popocatépetl volcano has been making much noise over the past few weeks. After noting increased activity, Mexican authorities raised the region's alert level to a yellow phase 3. Media reports speak of possible evacuation.
All week the Tolbachik volcano in Russia has been showing strong signs of activity. Initially the alert was raised from yellow to orange. As of today, the alert is now at red, the highest warning designation.
The Mount Cleveland volcano, located on a remote island in Alaska, has begun erupting, according to recently released satellite images. Officials say the volcano poses no immediate danger to individuals or airplanes.

Sarychev Peak began spewing out an ash cloud last Friday, formed during the volcano's eruption. The eruption has not stopped, and the ash cloud is getting so big that flights leaving Vancouver International Airport may be delayed or even cancelled.
