Virginia Tech officials have announced the alert at the school has been lifted after a weapon was found beside the body of the second individual in today's shooting. Police stopped short of saying the shooter of the VT police officer committed suicide.

Gunshots have been reported at Virginia Tech prompting school officials to shut down the university while campus police search for the shooter. One police officer has reportedly been killed and another possible victim is being reported by witnesses.

Virginia Tech is under a state of alert after a gunman was spotted on the campus this morning by what officials believe are credible witnesses. School buildings are locked down and students have been told to stay inside while police continue the search.
