Solomon Islands hit by earthquake

The Solomon Islands, situated in the Pacific Ocean northeast of Australia and southwest of Hawaii, were struck by an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale today Jan 9. There is not thought to be a threat of a widespread tsunami.

Strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake strikes Australia, no tsunami

A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake has occurred west of the Macquarie Island in Australia. There have been no reports of significant damage, injuries or deaths. No tsunami alert has been issued by the authorities.

Jakarta - Another large 6.2 magnitude earthquake has hit the nation of Indonesia. There were no immediate reports of injuries, deaths or damages and no tsunami alert was issued.

Seven minor earthquakes rock the state of California

Los Angeles - California saw seven earthquakes hit their state and four of them simultaneous. The magnitude of the earthquakes ranged between 2.5 and 4.1. There were no immediate reports of damages, injuries or deaths.

5.6-magnitude earthquake rocks southern Mexico

Oaxaca - Two 5.6- and 4.8-magnitude earthquakes hit the southern region of Mexico on Monday. There have been no reports of injuries, deaths or damages.

Strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan

A magnitude-6.4 earthquake rocked the Asian nation of Japan moments ago as it struck the southwestern Ryukyu Islands only hours after another quake hit the region.

4.4 Magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan

Kabul - The region of Afghanistan was struck by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake on Friday morning but there have been no reports of damages, injuries or deaths.

Iran experiences moderate 4.5 magnitude earthquake

Bandar - The southern part of Iran experienced a moderate 4.5 magnitude earthquake, nearly one month after they were hit with a magnitude-5 quake.
