Taliban support a week-long ceasefire in Afghanistan

The Taliban has announced that they are in favor of a week-long ceasefire in Afghanistan. The group hopes that this will help seal a deal with the US and lead to the US withdrawing eventually after being in the country for 18 years.

Taliban and US resume Afghan peace talks

On Thursday President Trump announced that peace talks with the Afghan Taliban had resumed. This was somewhat of a surprise although an apparent process was going on but it was not being made public.

Trump claims that peace talks with the Taliban are on again

After successful negotiations all the way to an agreement in principle with the Taliban, Trump called off negotiations after a Taliban attack during negotiations killed several including one US service person.

Taliban and US said to have reached agreement on Afghanistan

Sources at the Taliban US peace talks in Doha Qatar claim that the recent talks have worked out a peace deal for Afghanistan. The plan is to announce the deal formally in a few days. This will give the US time to brief the Afghan government on the deal.

Taliban spokesperson claims significant progress in talks with US

Doha - Mohammed Shaheen a Taliban spokesperson said that the Taliban and the US are getting close to an Afghanistan peace deal and an agreement could be concluded if the US makes a reasonable and convincing proposal.
