Barely days after the news emerged that Canada and the U.S. had approved a GE corn called SmartStax for commercial use, questions are being raised about the approval made by a Canadian government agency and the lack of approval from Health Canada.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and its U.S. counterpart, the EPA, recently approved a new GE corn created by Monsanto and Dow. Called SmartStax, Dow President Jerome Peribere said the corn represents "game changing technology."
