Sharp Electronics may cut thousands more jobs even after it executes its present plan to cut five thousand jobs. Sharp hopes the cuts will improve its balance sheet.

Japan's Sharp Corp. reported its largest net loss for the year ending Mar. 31 due to a lack of demand for its television. This has led the last big maker of liquid crystal displays for TVs to undergo a restructuring process that could cut 5,000 jobs.

Electronics company Panasonic has significantly downgraded its profit forecast for the year ending 31 March 2012, after reporting poor quarterly results.

The pop singer tweeted from Tokyo Wednesday: "Sipping tea in Japan with Haus. Feeling so grateful. We sold about 1 million albums a month worldwide since the release of BORN THIS WAY"

The new 52-inch TV uses less than half the power of current Sharp products, and has a better contrast ratio, 100,000:1. The signal is received by high speed wireless link, and the only cable required is for power. The prototype weighed in at 25Kg.
