A video shows a pod of dolphins appearing just in time to rescue a baby seal from being washed ashore. The seal had become separated from its group and appeared unable to resist strong ocean currents driving it away from deep waters to the shoreline.
Three seal pups, only a few days old, have survived a journey from a small group of islands off the coast of northern England turning up on a beach in Holland, a journey of 350 miles through storm-battered seas.
An outbreak of distemper, last seen in 2002 when it killed nearly half the harbor seal population along the coasts of six countries, is responsible for the deaths, last week, of 41 seal pups off the coast of Denmark.
