Last Tuesday, Canada’s most prestigious literary award, the Scotiabank Giller Prize, was presented to Johanna Skibsrud for her novel The Sentimentalists. Since then, her book has received quite a lot of attention - not related to the content.

The 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize has been awarded to Joseph Boyden for his novel Through Black Spruce. The prize comes with a purse of $50,000.

 Johanna Skibsrud's Scotiabank Giller Prize-winning novel The Sentimentalists is one of three Canadian titles on the short list for this year's Commonwealth Book Prize.
 Esi Edugyan, the Canadian writer who won the Giller Prize in 2011 for her novel Half-Blood Blues, has been nominated for the Orange Prize for fiction.
 Irish author and screenwriter Roddy Doyle and author and publisher Anna Porter have been named to the jury that will choose the 2012 Giller Prize winner.
 Canadian author Esi Edugyan is in the running for another major literary honour, with the Giller laureate shortlisted for the U.K.'s Orange Prize on Tuesday.
 Johanna Skibsrud, the Giller-winner for her debut novel The Sentimentalists, is nominated for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award for her first short story collection.
