For the first time since the devastating earthquake and ensuing tsunami hit the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant in northeastern Japan, workers were able to enter one of the reactor buildings of the disabled plant.

The Daiichi nuclear facility’s troublesome leak of radioactive water into the ocean has been stopped, announced by the plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO), on Wednesday.

A leak of radiation gases occurred at the Pelindaba nuclear reactors near Pretoria at 10am on Monday, the SA Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) said. "Abnormal levels of gamma radiation associated with xenon and krypton gases were detected."
