Vermont lawmakers approve bill allowing doctor-assisted suicides

Montpelier - The Vermont House of Representatives cleared the way Monday night to make the New England state the third in the country to legalize physician-assisted suicide.

France to legalize euthanasia

Paris - Fulfilling a campaign pledge, French President Francois Hollande commissioned a report, now complete, which recommends doctors be permitted to “accelerate death” for the terminally ill. Draft legislation is expected by June 2013.

Assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian dies

In the end, Jack Kevorkian died without the option he gave to countless patients. The central figure behind the euthanasia debate died naturally in a Michigan hospital Friday after a life defined by assisting in the suicide of 130 Americans.
