Hélène Campbell, a double-lung transplant recipient and online organ donation crusader, has suffered a setback, forcing her to use steroids to help strengthen her new lungs, her mother said on her daughter's 21st birthday.

Doctors say they expect to take Hélène Campbell off a ventilator, and move the Canadian double lung transplant recipient and online organ donation crusader to a less-intensive recovery unit within the next day or two.

A transplant recipient has himself donated the same kidney he received two weeks earlier after his body rejected the organ, giving the kidney to a third person.

Organ donation advocate Hèlène Campbell of Ottawa made her second appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, but her first since undergoing a double-lung transplant.

A young Ottawa woman who became an advocate for organ donation and had a double-lung transplant a month ago has left hospital in Toronto and tweeted that she's "feeling amazing."
