Fried grasshoppers are no longer on the menu at the request of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. This past April a popular eatery in San Francisco's Mission District called La Oaxaqueña Bakery and Restaurant stopped serving the specialty.

El Tecolote newspaper founder, Juan Gozales, was pleased that the fundraiser event on Aug. 28, 2011 went well. Dr. Loco's band and friends performed the music for the event.

Nayely Duran was born in Mexico City but her parents are from Oaxaca region of Mexico. "The Tlayuba is a classic dish of Oaxaca," said Duran.
Workers and staff at St. Luke's show their support for the physicians and hospital at the July 6 rally. Many said that they felt as if St. Luke's was their home. Several noted that they would not go anywhere else in the City for their health care needs.

Back in April of this year, as work was being done to Dolores Park and surrounding areas, near the old Mission of San Francisco, work crews uncovered the lagoon. Over 150 years ago it refreshed and nourished the native tribes that inhabited the land. As the Spanish settlers took over, the lagoon got filled in. Ian Trottier & Nayely Duran have been to La Oaxaqueña Bakery & Restaurant four times and each time they like to have the house specialty of hot chocolate. "Nayely and I love hot chocolate and this is perhaps the best in town," said Trottier.
