In a televised speech, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced the nation's first minimum wage for private sector employees. Razak called it a "special present" from the government and noted it would benefit three million low-income workers.

San Francisco -
San Francisco will be the first city in the United States to have a minimum wage that tops $10. As of Jan. 1, 2012, workers in the city by the bay will earn a living wage of at least $10.24 per hour.

The Nova Scotia Minimum Wage Review Committee has recommended March 10 to the goverment that the minimum wage be raised to $10 from $9.65 per hour beginning October 1, 2011.
