Okay, this isn't gonna fly but it should: declare a winner, somehow, of the Stanley Cup for the 2004-05 season. The one that wasn't, the playoffs that never happened - the lockout year. Get some more names on the Cup.

Former NHL star Mats Sundin may have ended his career as a Vancouver Canuck, but he made a welcomed return to his “second home” as a Toronto Maple Leaf.

With just over four minutes left in overtime, the Air Canada Centre was about to be filled with some magic from Mats. With the Maple Leafs shorthanded and the game on the line, Mats Sundin simply walked over the Calgary Flames blue line and let one rip.

After many months of waiting, Mats Sundin has finally signed with an NHL team for the 2008-2009 season: the Vancouver Canucks. The free agent centre joins the Canucks after playing more than 1,300 career NHL regular season games with Toronto and Quebec.

The cause celebre of the media and bloggers these days is to question the leadership of former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin. Funny, I thought we had buried this topic years ago.

Today is the day we were supposed to learn of Mats Sundin's decision regarding his future. Well, much to nobody's surprise, that ain't happening. But let's talk about Mats anyways.

Mats Sundin has not signed with the Vancouver Canucks. At least not yet. A report yesterday that he had signed with Vancouver turned out to be false. But I get the feeling that Sundin is closer and closer to finally making a decision on his future.

Now that most of the dust has settled, it's time to focus on who's next for the Toronto Maple Leafs. With over $8.5 million left in salary cap space, the roster is yet to be finalized.

Still no word from Maple Leafs forward Mats Sundin. If he leaves, I think I'm ready. I'm holding out hope, though, that he'll return for another season in the blue and white.
