A total of 60 Toronto police officers have started knocking on doors in an area where Mariam Makhniashvili was last seen at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 14. The only clue police have so far is her backpack. Police call this knock-and-talk campaign unprecedented.

 Toronto police say they believe Mariam Makhniashvili, the Toronto teen missing since September 2009, died following a fall from a "significant height."
 A funeral was held in Toronto on Saturday for Mariam Makhniashvili, the Toronto teen whose remains were discovered last month after she had been missing for 2½ years.
 The father of Mariam Makhniashvili had been denied permission by prison authorities to attend his daughter's funeral on Saturday. Vakhtang Makhniashvili was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted on aggravated assault charges.
