Maids Headlines

Singapore's government announces that maids working in the country must get a weekly rest day from next year.

The Maid of the Mist Steamboat has lost the contract to operate the famous tour boats in Niagara Falls that have ferried Canadian and American tourists for more than a century.

Operators of the Maid of the Mist say the popular tour boats will be back in the water this year on both sides of the Niagara River Gorge.

Deliberations in Canada over the future of the Maid of the Mist sightseeing boats at Niagara Falls are being closely watched in the United States.

Starting next year, maids in Singapore must receive one day off a week or additional compensation to work that day, Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin says.
