IT giant IBM has developed a new form of magnetic tape for computer storage that can hold 220TB of data on a reel of tape that could fit in the palm of your hand. The development will make it much easier to store vast amounts of data.
Scientists at the Technical University of Denmark have created a refrigerator that cools using magnets instead of electricity. It could replace existing refrigerators with new ones that have a fully environmentally friendly power source.
A Taiwanese child and his father exhibit strange magnetic behavior by which they are able to attach silverware and irons on their body. The father said he noticed the difference when he was in the army and now his son shows the same behavior.
Imagine your bed just hovering there in the air.
Frustrated by how much gravity dictates design, Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars searched for a way to defy convention and came up with a bed that hovers through magnetic force.
In this artist’s concept, the moon Ganymede orbits the giant planet Jupiter. NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope observed aurorae on the moon controlled by Ganymede’s magnetic fields. This field is embedded in Jupiter’s own immense magnetosphere (yellow field lines). A saline ocean under the moon’s icy crust reduces shifting in the auroral belts as measured by Hubble
