A Baltimore County, Md. middle school was put on lockdown today after a student pulled a gun out in a classroom. Reportedly, the teacher stepped between him and another student and was subsequently able to get the student to drop the gun.

The Dept. of Homeland Security was the focus of a Freedom of Information Act request; the yield was a list of words used to troll the internet for the "bad guys", and folks discussing clouds in the sky, exercisers, or even those who discuss tornadoes.

Three Toronto schools were in lockdown Thursday morning for a non-school related gun call. By 12:30 the schools were back in session an operator at 55 Division said.

Spokane -
A local bank in Spokane Valley, Washington was robbed and caused area school to be put on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. The official press release from the Spokane Valley Police follows.

A high school in Pickering was locked down for about 90 minutes this afternoon while police tracked suspected from a violent home invasion in the area.

Ajax -
An Ajax teen is now in custody after bringing a handgun to one of the school's portable classrooms on Monday. The boy was arrested with no danger to other students.

Media reports that Fort Bliss Army Base in Texas was on lockdown following a shooting this afternoon are incorrect. Two people have been injured and one killed after a shooting at the small on-base grocery store Monday afternoon.

What started as a large peaceful protest in downtown Toronto to rally against the G20 summit has suddenly turned violent. Police cars have been set ablaze, protesters hurled bricks and golf balls at windows and many Toronto venues are on lockdown.
