Instagram has announced a small but significant new feature that makes one of its headline capabilities more useful. It's now possible to download your live video streams to your phone's storage, letting you keep them after you've finished broadcasting.
After previously confirming it's working on live video, Instagram has officially launched the feature across all supported platforms. Livestreaming is joined by a new "disappearing" messaging mode which makes Instagram even more similar to Snapchat.
Instagram's CEO has confirmed in an interview that the Facebook-owned company is working on adding live video streaming to its platform. Live video is already a popular feature on Facebook. Instagram will now follow its parent into the space.
YouTube co-founder Steve Chen has confirmed his company will bring live video streaming to life this year. Chen said YouTube wanted to do this for a long time, and with Google’s resources, live video will become a reality a soon.
