Second woman dies in Spain listeria outbreak

Madrid - A woman died Tuesday after eating tainted meat in Spain, the second fatality in a listeria outbreak that has seen more than 200 people infected with the potentially fatal food-borne bacteria, authorities said.

Most food recalls in the U.S. are due to Listeria

New analysis shows that in the U.S. just under 550 food products were recalled. Of these, 275 were recalled due to microbial contamination. Listeria monocytogenes was the cause of 65 percent of the microbiological recalls.
