Photos have emerged of visitors pelting frightened lions with snowball at the Hangzhou Zoo, China. Lions aren't supposed to be wusses, but they cowered in fright, hid under a wooden plank and behind a tree trunk while visitors hurled snowballs at them.

Zambia has banned the hunting of endangered lions and leopards due to the dwindling numbers of these big cats and the value of game viewing by tourists.

Villagers in the township of Kitengela, near the Nairobi National Park, ambushed and speared to death a pride of lions that had been killing their livestock. The villagers said the lions had been preying on livestock belonging to herders in the community.
