Waterloo - Microfibers have become a serious threat to our drinking water, and while no studies on their impact on human health have been done, a group of entrepreneurs has come up with something that looks like a dryer sheet that attracts and removes the fibers.

Toledo - Citizens of Ohio’s fourth-largest city can drink from the tap again. However,the root causes of the Lake Erie algal blooms that shut off the flow for two days remain unresolved.

What is making Lake Erie sick?

Toledo residents get their water from Lake Erie, but they had to avoid drinking water from their taps this past weekend because the water contained a toxin from blue-green algae that had showed up in the municipal water supply.

Ohio under 'State of Emergency' Toledo's water contaminated

Toledo - About 2 a.m. Saturday morning, officials in Toledo, Ohio issued a "do not drink" warning, declaring the city's water supply contaminated with the toxin microcystin. Ohio Gov. John Kasich declared a State of Emergency, allowing water to be brought in.

NOAA: 'significant harmful algal bloom' to strike Lake Erie

In a statement released Tuesday, NOAA predicted that portions of western Lake Erie near the coasts of Ohio, Michigan, and Ontario are likely to see a harmful algal bloom develop over the summer.

Tragedy averted as plane crashes into Lake Erie

Put In Bay - A small plane that had taken off from Toledo made an emergency landing in Lake Erie, and the incident was caught on video. The pilot was unable to land so he put the plane down 100 feet from a ferry loaded with passengers and cars.
