A crash seconds after the start of the Belgian Grand Prix eliminated championship contenders Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton from the race and Jenson Button sailed through the afternoon en route to his second win of the Formula 1 season.

Formula one driver Jenson Button has escaped a machine gun attack on his car in Brazil. Mr Button was being driven back to his hotel in Sao Paulo, in a bullet proof car when six men armed with machine guns approached their vehicle.
