Op-Ed: Beijing’s ‘crazy bad’ air, 3.2 million deaths and global apathy

Sydney - Beijing’s air pollution went off the scale recently. It was 8.5 times higher than WHO danger levels. Citizens were advised to avoid exercise, and that was it for health responses. 3.2 million people died of air pollution in Asia in 2010. Result? Apathy.

GRACE satellites, paleo data predict sea level rise of 5 metres

A new finding that the eastern Antarctic ice sheet is losing a lot more ice than previously thought has re-ignited debate over projections for sea level rises. The ice sheet, if it disappeared, could add 5 metres to sea levels.
