Ice loss Headlines

Most of the ice being lost from Antarctica is going as a result of warm water eating the fringes of the continent, a new study confirms.

The struggle continues for the beleaguered Toronto Maple Leafs as they suffered their eighth straight loss on home ice, 5-2 to the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Most of the water in the Great Lakes hasn't frozen over this year — largely because of a warmer-than-usual winter — and a new study shows the lakes have been losing ice cover for 40 years.

The Montreal Canadiens will try to avoid a fourth straight loss on home ice when they entertain the Dallas Stars at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.

Erie Otters centre Connor Crisp had a game he likely never would have predicted, donning the pads Sunday in a 13-4 loss to the Niagara Ice Dogs.
