A Texas judge has ruled that the matricula consular, or I.D. card issued by Mexican Consulates cannot be used as a form of identification in getting a birth certificate for U.S.-born children.

Parents and students in a Texas city are protesting an initiative concerning the school's ID badges. Two schools are currently in a pilot program that involves new student IDs that contain tracking chips.
The White House Cyber Security Adviser Howard Schmidt and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke have recently announced a proposal for mandatory virtual ID cards for Internet users, called the “National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace.”
