US housing crash: Sales down 26% in 2007

The housing industry shakeout can now be said to have happened. After the boom, the nosedive. Housing sales for new homes are the lowest since 1996, just 20,000 above the figure for that year. Obviously, some people baled out before the train wreck.

The UK property market may be going through a modest pick-up in activity, industry figures show.
