Granny D, the feisty New Hampshire activist and grandmother who walked across the country in 2000 to call attention to the need for campaign reform, has died at the age of 100.

The grandmother bought some scratch lottery tickets and thought she didn’t win anything, so she asked the clerk to dispose the tickets. But the clerk checked the tickets only to find one of the tickets was a million-dollar winner.
