A herd of 89 plains bison in Canada will be relocated to a Native American reservation in Montana next month, and tribal leaders say this is a welcome homecoming for an animal that is an emblem of their way of life.
Just a few days ago we were enjoying temperatures of 40°F, but for NW Montana this felt oddly uncomfortable and not like Christmas at all. Finally the skies delivered, and a major snowstorm ushered in the first hint of Christmas.

Just east of the Avalanche Creek Campground in Glacier National Park is the Trail of the Cedars. Although at just 0.8 of a mile it can hardly be called a hike, this canopied stroll is one of the prettiest in the park.

The road to Glacier National Park in NW Montana is often under appreciated. From Coram to West Glacier lies seven miles of beauty. The views may not be as spectacular as inside the park itself, but they're still worthy of notice.
A tranquilized grizzly bear is monitored closely by field biologists while measurements are taken and a radio collar is attached. Managers of the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (of which Glacier National Park is a part) are striving to keep 25 bears (primarily females with cubs) radio collared with state-of-the-art GPS/ARGOS collars.
