Virginia man catches record-breaking snakehead fish

Occoquan - A Northern Virginia man caught a massive snakehead fish in the Occoquan River, a tributary of the Potomac River. The catch was made on May 8, and is a record-breaker, at least unofficially.

The hunt for a snakehead fish believed to be in a pond at a Metro Vancouver park has failed to turn up any sign of the invasive and predatory species that has come to be known as frankenfish.


Officials in Burnaby, B.C., are investigating the report of a snakehead fish in a local public pond, concerned that the highly invasive animal could wipe out local species and even threaten small household pets.
