G20 summit Headlines

The so-called secret law used to give police extra powers during the G20 summit in Toronto in 2010 is being scaled back by the Ontario government.

Byron Sonne, charged with explosives offences stemming from the G20 summit two years ago, is to learn his fate in a Toronto courtroom.

Police acting on submissions heard in court said they found dangerous materials on Wednesday at the former home of a man awaiting a verdict on charges he faces of possessing explosives ahead of the G20 summit.

The RCMP's watchdog says an investigation into the conduct of Mounties during the G8 and G20 summits in Ontario in 2010 has found they "on balance" did "a pretty good job" of policing, but offers new insight into the controversial police tactic of "kettling."

Byron Sonne, who was arrested in a massive police raid on his Toronto home just days before the start of the G20 summit in June 2010, was found not guilty today on charges of possessing explosives and counselling mischief.
