Lockheed Martin captures another deal worth under $500 million

It has been reported that Lockheed Martin, one of the leading military contract corporations, has been awarded a deal worth just under $500 million to build four fighter aircrafts and other production needs.

The Joint Strike Fighter program is weathering strong criticism in the U.S., threats and actual delays or cancellations of aircraft orders. As costs spiral upward, militaries around the world cut their orders, driving the costs per plane still higher.

More pilots are being trained to fly American unmanned aircraft than fighter planes, and most of them are put through their paces at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay is promising "increased oversight and much increased dialogue" in replacing Canada's fighter jet fleet after the auditor general slammed the government figures for buying F-35 aircraft.
